Tonight I’ve made the huge mistake of going to Nashville, TNs craigslist for cars and trucks. So many cool old trucks lacking rust. Something that the north east severely lacks. Looks like there’s one more reason to contemplate moving to the Nashville area at some point in my future. Tennessee not needing a front license plate helps a lot too, haha!
Power-wagon for your time.

Pretty much all of the Southeast is like that lol. I’ve never seen so many rust free 80’s subcompacts in my life now that I live here in SC. There is almost 0 rust here.

It was crazy going down to Myrtle Beach during August and as soon as we crossed into like Virginia everything had like not a spot of rust. I found a Dodge Daytona on the Nashville CL. I forgot those even existed!

There is a Chevy Sprint that someone DD near me. AND a Festiva with a brush guard. There is a graveyard with several of the damn things. It’s rare when the shell outlasts the engine on those things. I’m sure if I wait long enough, I’ll even find a solid Vega.

I have been, and know people who have been pulled over many times for not having a front license plate. They use it as an excuse to pull you over and try to find other infractions so not having it required would be a huge plus!

Damn, that’s crazy. I guess a nice plus would be being able to find nice rust-free Subarus down there. Granted people bought older Subarus in Tennessee.

Someone at my school had a rust free Chevette, last year. Sadly, they graduated and I never did find out who it was. Thing was clean, though.

There is something about the Carolina’s that perserves cars well. Alabama even had more rust.

Really? I live in Atlanta and I looked at probably 12 1960’s F100’s before I bought mine. Everyone I looked at had a LOT of rust. I think it’s pretty hard to find one with a solid bed. Thery tend to rust out the door jambs as well. A lot of them looked good in the pictures. A lot of sellers purposely neglect to show the problem areas in pictures.

I wasn’t looking too closely tbh, but compared to NY, right in the heart of the Northeast, it’s basically rust free. I’ve seen trucks with all of the rockers pretty much rusted away and half the bottom of the tailgates just gone. Road salt is a silent killer. I love snow but I hate the road salt that comes with it.

Buy the Kammback and the Cossie. You know what to do.

This was to prove that rust does not exist here. But if I were to buy one, it would be the Kammback, and it would receive the engine it was originally planned to have. It involves triangles.

Yeah, not odd to find ~30 year old rides here that are in decent, barely rusted shape.

I bought a running driving rust free sti for 9k near Nashville. Doesn’t seem like a bad place to move.

Would you do some kind of crazy three or four rotor setup or keep it more true to the original idea?

I’m thinking a small single turbo 13B. Enough to keep it interesting, but not overkill.

I’m pretty sure North and South Carolina are the only places in the world where there are Chevy C10 pickups that don’t desperately need rocker panels.
My neighbor has a ‘67 stepside, 622,000 miles on the body. There is a tiny rust spot on the corner of the passenger side rocker. Completely original.

Well, the Southwest is pretty well known for that.

Add to that:
No state income tax
Growing financial, telecom, and infrastructure industries
Property values rising continually.
If you’re single lots of beautiful people around.

Man I hear ya! I hated having required front plates in California and Ohio when I lived in those states. GAH! Thank goodness my WRX survived 4 winters in Ohio with very minor rust damage. The west coast and southeast have helped preserve it significantly. Garages help a lot too... ha ha.

Also, you should tell me more about the area sometime in the future, I’m always willing to learn about new places! Especially if it’s somewhere I’m contemplating moving to in the future.
